A History of Collaboration

Since 1997, LRS® has been delivering solutions that help SAP® customers meet their SLAs while reducing document-related hardware and FTE costs. In 2004, our VPSX/OutputManager solution for SAP was one of the first software integrations to take advantage of the new SAP-developed BC-XOM interface.

This enabled SAP customers to eliminate native SAP printing and offload the burden of print to the proven LRS external output management (XOM) solution.

Soon thereafter, LRS established a technical presence at the SAP Partner Port in Walldorf Germany to improve our ability to serve our mutual customers. This close technical collaboration extends to the present day, and LRS continues to provide customers robust output solutions as they begin to migrate their SAP environments to the Cloud.

The LRS SAP Printing Solution transforms native SAP GOF / OTF formats into printer-ready data streams with required inline font characters (e.g., Unicode) and barcodes, thus eliminating the need for costly printer add-on hardware modules. SAP originally developed its External Output Management (BC-XOM) interface to offer a scalable alternative to problematic native OS-based document facilities. With the advent of their Cloud-based RISE with SAP service, they likewise provided customers way to offload the burden of printing from SAP application and support staff alike.VPSX/OutputManager software leverages certified, proven application interfaces to provide reliable end-to-end document delivery and status feedback from the SAP user screen and from the SAP print spool to the printed page.

USE CASE:

A French manufacturer with more than 100,000 employees in 34 countries relied on their SAP applications for nearly all aspects of their business ̶ from materials management to manufacturing, shipping & distribution and more. Some of the most critical SAP printing was destined for Zebra devices in China and involved Chinese fonts. Local Chinese IT staff recommended the installation of font DIMM cards in over 900 printers. This concerned the French SAP Basis team, as it complicated the process of configuring and supporting print to these critical production devices.

LRS data stream transform software converted OTF and PDF output from the company’s SAP systems into printer-ready data streams, helping them:

Save money by eliminating the need for DIMM cards
Centralize the process of provisioning, configuring, and supporting print devices for all SAP printing in their global network
