LRS Announces General Availability for VPS Version 2.0

SPRINGFIELD, IL - April 27, 2007 - On Wednesday of this week, Levi, Ray & Shoup, Inc. (LRS) began shipping VPS® Version 2, Release 1.0 (V2R1.0) code in G.A. form. This represents the first new major version of LRS' most widely known product since the original version of the software debuted in 1981.

Taking full advantage of mainframe OS, JES, and hardware advances, the VPS V2R1.0 software offers significant improvements over previous releases with regard to performance, functionality, and problem resolution. The new version is available at no additional charge to customers with active maintenance or term license agreements.

Noteworthy enhancements include:

  • Reduced CPU consumption, giving customers increased performance without the need to upgrade their mainframe hardware
  • Support for TCP/IP V6 addressing to printers and other connection types
  • Simplified license key management
  • Greatly improved encryption, job processing, error tracking, and more

LRS is currently shipping new versions of the software via tape cartridge, CD, or Electronic File Transfer (EFT). In addition to the base VPS product, customers will also receive updated versions of VPS/TCPIP software and any other VPS extension products they have licensed.
