LRS Releases New Version of VPSX

Enhancements include mobile access, Windows 8

SPRINGFIELD, IL – November 16, 2012 – Levi, Ray & Shoup, Inc. (LRS) has released the newest version of its flagship Enterprise Output Management software for general availability this week with several new enhancements that include Universal Print Release, improved PJL delivery performance, Windows® 8 print driver support and a web-based administrator interface, VPSX® Printer Control. The new enhancements offer users and IT administrators greater capabilities for accessing and managing their output devices using mobile devices.

“Access to information when and where employees need it is the standard in today’s business environment. With this new release of the VPSX product, LRS is enhancing the mobile capabilities for users and administrators, making it easier for them to do business where and when they need,” states Brent Black, Director of Product Management for LRS.

The new Universal Print Release is a web-based pull printing application designed to run on any device with a web browser and allows users to securely release previously submitted documents to any VPSX printer using their mobile phone, tablet or a dedicated release station.

Also new for online access is the VPSX Printer Control application. This web-based interface is designed specifically for devices with smaller display screens such as mobile phones or tablets. It allows VPSX administrators to perform simple monitoring and control tasks from their mobile devices. Users can check printer status, issue printer commands (stop, start, divert, etc.), display the printer console using SNMP, and display printer queues and issue job-related commands such as hold, release, delete or reroute.

A new feature called Overlapping Delivery enhances PJL delivery, and this results in improved printer throughput. With the enhanced TCPIP/PJL protocol, VPSX provides assured delivery of more than one document concurrently to a printer.

VPSX and PDM driver upload and modification wizards have been updated and now include Windows 8 as a valid target platform in the system.
